Yorkshireman with a desire to document life through photographs
Who am I?
My name is Andy Cavell, I’m a husband & dad. I’m a proud Yorkshire bloke who loves photography.
Having grown up in Leeds in the 1980’s in an area named Seacroft; where times were tough & there was little room for creative expression, photography wasn’t exactly commonplace.
At 16 years old I got my 1st digital camera (a Kodak with a printing dock) - I was hooked, I loved being able to see a scene and freeze that point in time with this camera. The magic then became real when I made prints from the photographs - seeing the 6x4 sheet move back and forth through that little printer laying down yellows, then magenta, and blue then finally delivering the finished photograph. Mind blown!
As I moved into young adulthood I continued with my love of cameras and photography, investing in equipment and constantly striving to improve technically as well as creatively.
As a fully fledged middle aged man these days, I continue to love the joy of getting out with the camera and hoping to create something that makes me smile. Having spent years trying to second guess what makes everyone else happy, I have realised (probably later than I should’ve) that if I am enjoying creating things, then everything else is a bonus.
Type of photography?
I love capturing moments, regardless of the subject—be it a portrait, stunning landscapes, busy streets, or charming animals. Why limit yourself to one focus? Embracing various subjects enriches storytelling.
